HERSHEY, PA -- William Dearden, former chairman of the board and CEO of Hershey Foods Corp., passed away May 10 after a lengthy illness. He was 80.

Dearden joined Hershey in 1957 as assistant to the chairman of the board. He held several positions during his career, including products manager, director of sales and marketing, vice-president of sales and marketing and group vice-president of chocolate and confectionery.
